- Notice of Strike of the Storm's Landing Guard -
Let it be known the Storm's Landing Guard are officially on strike.
We, the Guards of Storm's Landing, who are sworn by oath to act as arbiters of the law, order, and peace within the city, do announce our intent, desire, and willingness to go on strike and thus to temporarily become unwilling to perform said duties for an unspecified period of time.
We have recently been informed that there are new law codes that are in circulation, ratified by the previous Storm's Landing council that were not made public to the guard or to the citizenry of Storm's Landing. They have been in circulation for a year, without being posted publicly or sent to the Storm's Landing Guard.
This failure to observe the expected practices and publicly announce the changes to the existing law code casts doubt into both the legality of current cases against criminals and that of previously closed cases.
The ambiguity in law codes allows self-confessed kidnappers and torturers to walk free from arrest and denies us the ability to lawfully carry out our duty.
This callous disregard of safe governance and the rights of all citizens of Storm's Landing to understand and observe the law has shown that there is an absence of proper and just governance from previous councils of Storm's Landing.
We demand the following be done to rectify this:
1) A public release of the updated law codes to the Guard and citizenry.
2) A decision be made whether the new laws stand retrospectively for the period of time that they were not made public.
3) A public statement by Council be made that the failure to release the updated law codes to the Guard and citizenry of Storm's Landing is the failure of previous defunct councils.
4) A formal inquiry be made into why the updated law codes failed to be made public to the Guard and to the citizenry of Storm's Landing. And where necessary, apply charges to those responsible.
5) An indemnity be provided to the Guard against any future persecution from all claims arising from enforcing any old laws or case precedence which conflict with the updated law codes over the time they were not made public.
To the citizenry of Storm's Landing, we may only issue an apology of deepest condolences and sympathy to anyone affected or inconvenienced in any manner by this strike. It has been deliberated and decided neither in uncertain terms nor without considering the gravity of the impacts of the decisions involved.
May the Gods protect you all, and give mercy to the weak.
