Abridged History:
Kogata's origins can be traced back to the early medieval kingdom of Kogata, founded by the legendary warrior poet Koga. After uniting the warring states of the Tagena archipelago, Koga began a dynasty that ruled over its populace without quarrel, that is until modernity caught up with the monarchy. At the dawn of the 20th century, more and more Kogatans were moving from the fields to the city, leading to a growth in the working and middle classes. In 1930, a year that had been plagued by terrible drought and famine, the Kogatan Communist Party incited the Red Summer Revolution, which forced the young Kōtei to abdicate, and ceed all power over to the KCP. Communist Kogata, was known as the United Communist States of Tagena, and life under the regime was difficult to say the least. Dissenters were executed, freedoms were withheld, and despite the slow march of modernisation undertaken by the government, the economy was failing. In response to the failure that was the UCST, famed poet Azai Nagamasa lead a second revolution that overthrew the communist leadership, forcing them into exile abroad. Once peace was restored, the monarchy was reinstated, though with significantly less power, and Kogata began taking steps towards becoming the peaceful, rich, and influential nation it is today.Abridged History:

Diplomacy:
The Armed Republic of ImdoliaDiplomacy:
Kogata has a complicated relationship with its mainland neighbour Imdolia. While the two each have embassies for one another, and frequently trade, Kogata's government has condemned Imdolia on several occasions for its repressive policies. These call-outs are however not frequent, and typically only follow a highlighted event in Imdolia.
The Federal Republic of Kronea
Kogata's relationship with Kronea began with a free-trade agreement, though this quickly evolved into what is now known as the Ocean Assembly, a coalition of likeminded nations coastal or island nations. The two frequently trade with one another and the third founding nation of the Assembly, Binaris.
The Rogue Nation of Sammaru
Relations between Sammaru and Kogata are cold and bordering on hostile, many calling for war following the attempted assassination attempt on President Okada. Despite this, Okada has assured his people that time must be given to evaluate the situation before any decision can be made.

Geography:
The Republic of Kogata is a small island nation located on the Tagena Archipelago, a string of islands off the north-west coast of Kitora. The Tagena Archipelago is made up of upwards of 30 islands, the largest being Kaido, on which 90% of the country's population live. Other islands include Kaku Island, Kaneta Island, Dotto Island, and the Three King Islands. Geography:
About 30 percent of Kaido Island is heavily forested, mountainous, or otherwise unsuitable for agricultural, industrial, or residential use. As a result, the habitable zones have extremely high population densities, and are mainly located on the coasts, one exception being Odori, which is located in the flatlands at the foot of Kaido Mountains. It goes without saying that Kogata is one of the most densely populated countries in the world.
The climate of Kogata is predominately temperate across the Tagena archipelago, and while precipitation is not heavy, the islands typically experience heavy snowfall in the winter, which have the average temperature of 2°C. The summers however typically counter this, as the average summer high is around 26°C.
Kogata also has several island holdings around the world that serve primarily as semi-autonomous microstates that protect trade.

Culture:
Since the dawn of the Republic, Kogatan culture has changed significantly from the days before the communist revolution in the 1930s. During the time of the Kōtei, Kogatan culture was heavily influenced Kadoism, the faith and philosophy of the nation's legendary founding father. Kadoism places emphasis on five virtues: benevolence, righteousness, tradition, knowledge, and integrity. In recent years however, Kogata has developed many sub and counter culture movements, and nowadays it is mainly the older generations, and the government, that maintain the virtues of Kadoism.Culture:
One of the largest sub/counter cultures in Kogata are the Nonkina, young adults and teens with little or no regard to the country's traditions. Nonkina range from trendy boundary-pushing businessmen, party going college students, or even youth who dye their hair to stand out from the crowd. The movement began sometime in the late eighties, and has contributed most noticeable to the growth and improvement of the Hamada nightlife. Nonkina are generally held in disregard by the elderly, though otherwise they get on fine in society.

Government and Politics:
In Kogata, there are two main legislative bodies: the President and the Conclave of Representatives. Every five years, the electorate vote for their province's representative, who will then travel to the capital to represent the interests of their home province. One year after the Conclave is "reshuffled", the body will elect a president from their ranks. Prior to the small election, each representative looking to run for the presidency will make a speech to the government detailing why they should lead the nation. This internal election for the presidency eliminates the need for costly and often pointless election campaigns.Government and Politics:
The Constitution details that the president is Commander In Chief of the Armed Forces, but cannot declare offensive wars without the permission of the Conclave. Additionally, the president is tasked with drafting up bills for the country which must be approved by a majority of the Conclave to become laws. The President may serve indefinitely so long as he is continuously wins elections, though after two terms, investigations take place to ensure that the elections have remained fair and democratic.

Economy:
Since the country's founding so many years ago, Kogatan leaders have traditionally placed high emphasis on maintaining the country's trade power. Kogata became the far east's most powerful trader in the late seventies, tapping into the growing consumer electronics market. Kogata was recently overtaken by Nicronica in terms of GDP, though remains a powerful player in the eastern, and global market.Economy:
Companies:
Denkisora: Arguably Kogata's most powerful company, Denkisora specialises in electronic consumer goods such as televisions, radios, game consoles, computers, phones, etc.
EKO Ltd: Kogata's largest energy company, supplying power to the majority of home island. They own most of the country's power plants and often purchase fuel from foreign powers due to Kogata's lack of oil, coal, or other fossil fuels.
URAN: Despite being newer than Denkisora or EKO, URAN has been widely successful in recent years, and is responsible for the growth in popularity of nuclear energy. They mine uranium in Kogata's islands Jin and Mai, often selling it abroad or to EKO and its competitors.
Akutibu: This media conglomerate owns several television channels, two film production companies, and a handful of leading newspapers. Their productions range from animated features, to soap operas, to dramatic action-adventure movies, all of which are exported abroad through powerful online marketing campaigns.
