"Fairies, Fatae, Faes .. Have you heard stories of these winged small people- giggling in the wind? Are they real?"

H A B I T A T
Fey can be found in most wild corners of the Eastern Kingdoms as they tend to avoid large civilized settlements and prefer the moderate wild climates to the south. Very few make homes in the colder north, though they can be found amongst the snowy woodlands. Hot desert lands, Deadlands or Volcano lands are locations they vehemently avoid. While Fey live in almost all corners of the world, they prefer places with limited civilized interactions. Thus they make their homes far from most towns, cities or relevant habitation - in places where they have ready access to a combination of food, water and if applicable the item’s or climes they are drawn to. These tend to be mostly within wild, thick forests and woodlands.

P H Y S I O L O G Y
These small flying creatures have a vaguely humanoid shape with a minute body that ranges in size from five to seven inches in height. They have small mouths and small noses, but their angular eyes are far larger proportionally to their body than a human or elves. They have pupil-less eyes and their eyes are mostly completely green, though variations and mutations do exist with various colors.
Fey have two sets of wings colored like butterflies, a major set and minor. One large atop and one long upon the bottom. The wing's coloration is dependent upon the environment the Fey resides in. The coloration seems to be adapted against blending in and to draw as much attention as possible to them.
All wings produce a mild bioluminescence at night as they fly, glowing the color of the fairies wings. The wings are visually reminiscent of butterfly wings, with thousands of tiny scales layered over each other. These scales are a fairy's natural defense system as well, as small predators who would hunt them will find the ingestion of the wings deadly.
All Fey possess arms and legs resembling that of the sentient races of the world. However unlike most species they are not the primary form of locomotion, instead using them mainly to manipulate the environment or grasp objects. It is possible for them to walk bipedally but it is uncommon and not done for long due to their legs being weak from lack of use. They can carry an object roughly their own weight for short distances. If multiple work together, they may be able to carry twice their weight.
Some Fey settle in different locations of the world, their colorings camouflaging to the environment.
Faded Orange - Most common among the Fey to the frozen North.
Pearl White - Most common among Fey that live near cliff faces.
Light Blue - These Fey exist in Forest, and flock around places where lightning has struck.
Lilac - Often setting their nests nearest a water surface source.
White Gold - They are the most likely to live in forests near mortal settlements.
Green - They appear most commonly in forests, and make up the majority of Fey.

Diet: Fey do not need to eat often, but they are able to live off a mixture diet of small insects, nuts and other edible plants. Small creatures with exceptionally voracious appetites, if they cannot find a food source they will seek it near mortal settlements.
Lifespan: Fey do not reproduce. Their manifestation birthed through the magic in the world and they come into existence upon their own whims and will. They can age or retain a youthful appearance, but none die unless meddled with my nature or beings. There are no child-sized Fey- but all are quite child-like.

B E H A V I O U R
Fey are magical, mischievous and child-like by nature. They are whimsical and free-spirits of the wilderness. Often drawn to small things that glint in the light such as bright ribbons, small coins, earrings or anything that is light enough to be carried by them.
Fey tend to be both a blessing and curse. Those who attempt to remove Fey by force, destroy their homes, or have killed one of a group will find themselves the targets of their anger.. Be it luring the unsuspecting at night by virtue of their glowing wings into a bear den, to forest spiders, or towards worse creatures. Or a curse of wild nature enacted on them through their unintelligible chanting. Fey’s vindictiveness when wronged result in many foul rumors of them luring children to their deaths or carrying them away to make more fey of them., so it is said.
Those that treat them kindly or with respect may find themselves able to barter with their small goods in order to keep a mutual connection. Those that earn their great respect may also find themselves with magical blessings of the arcane variety.

[Empathy] Fey cannot communicate normally with beings, but they can understand emotions and convey them to others. They have their own unintelligible squeaking, much like other animals.
[Wild Aid] The Fey have a penchant for befriending even the wildest of creatures. Although they’re vulnerable to violent and angry beasts, others can be called to aid them in their time of need.
[Curse] A collective of Fey can come together to enact one brief curse on an individual. The curse can vary between being allergic to a plant or animal, to carrying a mutation of a creature (example: a pig’s nose), to having an emotion tampered with (example: they will be compelled to fear forest lakes, etc). The curse tends to be minor (emotional or matter/life based) and it lasts depending on how severe their crime was. (Up to DM discretion). In some cases, the curse can be resolved through other Fey communities.
[Turbulent Touch] The Fey have strange abilities in matters of life. Their touch can soothe and heal a minor cut under good conditions, as an act of exchange for bartering. But when they turn aggressive, they cut and scratch- often drawing blood in their wake.
[Bargains] Arcane Staff Only

W E A K N E S S E S
They're quite small and frail.

Y I E L D S
[Seedling] If a Fey ever dies, they turn to dust and within that dust a seed appears. Overtime, it can grow into a small flower or plant. Its type will vary. (Up to DM or player).
