Construction of the Evenfall Academy starts upon the foundations of an expansive yet derelict mansion of sorts.
Work continues as planned, though rumors among the construction workers run like wildfire; stories from apparitions to dragons abound.
Soon, the workers have a name for the place beneath the Academy:

- THE UNDERTHING -

Its entrances were found to be mysteriously sealed long before the construction began.
The doors have no lock to pick and mages have yet to find an answer on how to open them.
And then a 'key' appears to
Headmistress Lana. It is sealed in an envelope with a wax seal and accompanied by a letter.
None but Lana's eyes had read it. None can read it yet, as it went up in flames after the information was delivered to her eyes.

Mystery envelops The Underthing. Curiosity is like a spark that will grow into a fire in the coming months.
Soon, it becomes common knowledge that Lana holds the key. Hosts of people urge her to open the doors and let them in.
It is but a matter of time until she cracks under the pressure of curiosity and will attempt the 'key' upon the doors of...

THE UNDERTHING!

The Underthing Events
The events require Optifine with Dynamic Lighting

The Underthing Events are part of a sizable series in which the attendants' curiosity shall push them to enter the darkness below Evenfall Academy.
It is the goal of the attendants to satisfy their curiosity by carefully exploring whatever is down there.
They will want to unravel the story of The Underthing by asking themselves and each other questions like:

"What is The Underthing?"

"Why is it here?"
"Was it always what it is now?"
"Who is involved, and why?"

"Why do we find [x] here, and where did [x] come from?"

The attendants are aware that all of their actions will have consequences.
All of them, even things such as deciding to (not) enter a room.
Indeed, even things such as the timing in which they navigate through certain parts will affect what happens in The Underthing.

It will not be unusual for them to have a completely different experience of being in the same room now, compared to a few days ago.
This is all part of the mystery and will fully explain itself
if the attendants are thorough, yet careful, in their research of this mysterious place.
In the end, they will not only have satisfied their own curiosity, but they'll also have helped. Helped who, or what, or even when; that is for them to find out!

This thread is a teaser and will grow into an overview information sheet once the events start going somewhere in DECEMBER.
The fact there's something mysterious underneath the academy is now common knowledge. Enjoy!

People who want to study/teach/attend Evenfall and the Underthing in any way are welcome and invited to join the Evenfall Discord.
We'll post our private events there instead of here as to not clog the player-events chatroom of this discord.
There are public/private rooms to chat with fellow students/teachers or ask relevant questions.
It's a way to get in contact with Wake and myself a bit easier, rather than over the slow forum convo's.
