Legend of Altera
1. What is your Minecraft username?
Delta61251
2. How old are you?
25
3. What country are you from?
United States of America
4. Have you read the King's Law, Code of Conducts, Official Lore, and the Player Guides yet?
Yes
5. In your own words, how would you define metagaming and powergaming?
Metagaming is taking out of character knowledge and using it in character. Powergaming is abusing a system to get the results you want, whether or not it's fun for anyone else.
6. Do we allow X-Raying mods or X-Ray texture packs on the server?
Hell no.
7. Name one of our current Mentors.
Ayda
8. Tell us about yourself!
I'm still a gamer nerd, though I don't game as much anymore. Mostly just tabletop rpgs now-a-days. Out of college and work is steady enough that I can finally rejoin the server on a regular basis. Hopefully there won't be too much trouble using my old characters. I listen to basically all music except rap.
9. Do you have any examples of your work?
I don't have any examples since I haven't played MC in a very long time and most of my work is character building/ role playing based.
10. Did anyone refer you? If not, how did you find our server?
I don't remember how I found this place nine years ago.

Written Test!
(I think I've gotten better at story writing, but I don't know. I'm biased.)
Kaylin Trissys is born as the moon turned to a worrying shade of purple to Rydel and Ayla Trissys, a happy silver elf couple of poor standing and even poorer wealth. Rydel was an apple farmer and Ayla was a tailor. While they didn’t have much for possessions, Kaylin never really noticed. Their farm was in the middle of nowhere, somewhere north of Astrakhan and east of Eastwatch. Her time was spent mostly playing in the orchards while her father worked or helping her mother around the house. She had only one toy, a doll she named Rina. It was all she really needed or wanted. Late at night, when her parents thought she was asleep, she could often hear them speaking quietly to each other about news from the city, which she had never been to, despite her pleas with her father to allow her to accompany him on his deliveries. She rarely heard what they said, but the hushed, but worried tones did nothing to assuage her overactive imagination. Before she had turned eleven, her father went to the city, never to return. She and her mother tended the farm, hoping against fate that he would return, smiling as he pulled the heavy cart laden with food, cloth, and other supplies they needed to get through the winter having traded the apples away.
The days got colder and shorter, but Kaylin and her mother pressed on. About a year later, illness and grief started to get the better of Ayla and, try as Kaylin might, she passed on. Kaylin, being twelve by then, decided that she didn’t want to remain, struggling to scrap the meager coin needed by growing and selling bushel after bushel of apples, especially now that she didn’t have a cart, nor the means to travel with one. Her small body couldn’t have pushed it like her father had and, since they had no animals, she couldn’t use a beast of burden either. Perhaps she’d even find her father, or at least, what happened to him. She missed him and, even if it turned out that he had died as her mother had believed, at least she would know, instead of this horrible sense of ‘what if?’ that loomed over her and gave her hope. “Yes,” she thought aloud, “even if he’s really dead, at least I’ll know.” Steeling herself against the chill winds of early spring, she left, not knowing if she’ll ever see the little house, surrounded by apple trees, again.

About Your Character!
This section is about the character you intend to use once you join the server. We ask that new players follow these guidelines during this portion of the application:
- Characters begin with basic skills and gear. No advanced armor or weaponry. Skills and abilities are appropriate to a novice level. Skills should be learned through roleplay, not through backstory.
- Characters fit the lore. If you choose to play as a Moor Elf, for example, we expect appearance and details to be fitting with base lore.
- Characters cannot use magic in any way. The test itself should not mention magic either. HollowWorld uses a restricted magic system and it is only accessible to those who find and learn from a teacher in-game.
- Tests should not be violent. No murder, killing, death, torture. In the past, 8 out of 10 applications featured characters fighting off bandits or slaying passersby. We don't want to see how well you can script a fight scene. We want to see how well you can tell a story, how well you can roleplay.
- Be creative and be original. Do not use tests/characters whose home villages were burned, parents murdered, and then set off to be an orphan assassin. It has been done before. Please don't do it again.
- Written portion of the test is required to be a 400 word minimum. If the test doesn't meet the minimum, Staff may ask you to extend the test before the application is considered.
