Black Powder is a volatile substance that can be used in a variety of ways, such as fireworks, cannons, and even for use in mining purposes. However, with its extremely volatile and dangerous nature, there is an inherent risk in using it and the experiments necessary to perfect its use are often dangerous enough it dissuades people from trying. Below are the uses available with this powder, and it is not permitted to use it beyond these limits. In character, any attempts to do so will fail catastrophically.

It is at player discretion to be 'experienced' in working with this powder, so long as some research is made and experiments with a risk of injury are undertaken. These do not need to be logged with Lore team, but a note on your character profiles is suggested.

[ FIREWORKS ]
Fireworks are small wrapped bundles using black powder primarily with various metal powders and dyes to give them colour. They do not explode with any great force, but enough to be brightly seen in the night skies for miles around and to create a crackling popping sound that echoes. They can be created by those experienced in their creation and handling of black powder. They are able to be given a small fuse to delay timing.
Should they be used in confined spaces, grounded, or given no room to ascend, they burn out with embers and crackling sounds like a sparkler. These should not be used against other players, that is not their intention and will be effectively harmless if tried. As if they were hit by a powder of warm embers.

[ CANNONS ]
Some forms of cannons can be created by those with the knowledge to craft them, but they are considered possibly too risky to use to see them in any common form. Cannons should be created by a Seige Engineer with experience in-character learning how to make them, and the items themselves can be represented by a craft via HollowCrafting (Ballista).
There are some rules on these items being used in character however outside of event team usage. They should not be used on player characters, equating it to using a Ballista where small moving targets are harder to hit and stationary or large obstructions can be hit as normal. Any use of them should follow the guidelines below rolling a 1d20 per use, before rolling a body or mind + ranged to hit, keeping in mind they take two rounds to reload:
1: 5%. An explosion centered around the device proportional to the amount of powder used. The device is completely broken. Specifically, this means the powder ignites before launch and may catch any flammable thing on fire nearby. (Damages up to DM discretion)
2-4: 15%. Device breaks in a way that requires extensive, long-term repairs or reconstruction (unusable for the rest of the OOC day).
5-10: 30%. A dud-shot requires re-ignition (DM's discretion on negative effects if applicable).
11-13: 15%. Device works at 50% effect.
14-20: 35%. Device works as intended.

[ MINING ]
It can be used in larger quantities, especially within crates, through experienced hands and careful placement to help in excavation and mining. But it is considered so volatile and dangerous that it is much safer and much more accurate to use traditional tools and methods. You may use it to help justify the appearance of smaller build projects, but it cannot be used IC in any large, dangerous quantity outside of event purposes.

[ EVENT USE ]
In events black powder can be used as a set-piece/environmental hazard/so on, but this should be pre-approved with the event lead. It should not be used against players or regions without this approval and the explicit approval of the players and/or region owner in question.
