Evil
Secrets
Kiss’d upon mine ears
From lips thine
Perchance ne’er meant for me
But breath’d not by thou
Not with intent
Tis embed’d in thee
Part o’ what thou art
And I comb through
Tak’n apart by part
Not with intent
These pieces of thyself
Shared betwixt us
Betwixt the blood
I keep them too
Not with intent
Walls put up around
The world away from mine
Vivid shades capture me
Enrapture thee
I can see shadows
Shapes
Feel warmed
Unalarmed
One day soon
I shalt yield fruit
And when I do
A gift to you
All I e’er was
Everything I’ve done
Something so slight
For you to take a bite
And then my child
Will grow anew
I cannot stay
Wilt away
Trapp’d within mine own rebirth
Godless
Their hands reach upon us
But tis ours that toil
Benevolent beings
We work the soil
We the lesser
They the royal
Crush’d under
Golden foil
E’en into my own child
Shalt I slice and stab
Briar
I wilt betray my kin
Left in the murk
Mire
But I wilt promise them
Tis all for good reason
Liar
Penitent
Seldom doth guilt cling to ‘nother
Like wat’r to cloth
Like dirt to path
Like sweat to skin
Like smoke to ash
And yet, some cling to guilt
Scratching Scream
Hear it in ears thine
A voice of brok’n glass
E’en from her throat
Tis shatter’d to hear
Hear it in ears thine
Scraping ‘gainst thy skin
Some accursed note
Ne’er far or near
Hear it in ears thine
Echoes of what were
Tongue of shard’n coat
Quiv’ring with her fear
Hear it in ears thine
The shriek o’ a ghost
Ne’er said or wrote
Hear it in thine ear
Rites
Cast back to earth
Lower’d gently
We mark this life
Liv’d in full
Back to soil
Breathing null
Should they return
Twill be toll’d
Their once body
Ridden old’n
And this new form
Raise anew
Within thine hand
Weapon drew
Final Breath
Here I lay
Alone surround’d
Final day
Thy hand in mine
Last gasp
Lasting grip
Deathly asp
Fing’rs slip
Visions fade
Mind falters
Form decay’d
Thy life alters
Stare off into night
No star in the sky
Just a deep blue sea
To look upon it
Feels like swimming
Warrior stature
Built mighty and tall
Sturdy and fluid
And to behold it
Strength is brimming
Battles lost, wars won
Writ nowhere but sand
Cast across caravans
Gamblers’ gold
Gilded trimming
Oasis in sands
No star in the sky
Just a mirage
Drinking it in
Day is dimming
Worth Less
The sanctity of life
Seen in the trees
The green
The creatures that eat it
All that inhabit it
And those that eat them
That eat the creatures
Does that devalue the green
Reduce its boon
For the rest of us
Is it worth less
Those that eat those that eat
Are they looking after it
Are they nurturing it
Is that even enough
Have we lost it
A Dancer
Tis a passion
Lo, not one pursued
Thou cannot afford to
Tis a claim
Lo, not one back’d
Thou hathn’t the time to
Tis a thought
Lo, not one act’d
Thou must focus elsewhere
Tis thy identity
Despite obstacle
Thou’rt a dancer in thine heart
Dismissal
That we doth not und’rstand
We must call it criminal
Look down upon
Frown upon
But we doth not und’rstand
Shalt we attempt to see?
Unlearn what we’ve known?
What we’re shown?
What we doth not und’rstand
Tis complex but knowable
Or perchance misund’rstand
Twill be tested by mine hand
Kiss’d upon mine ears
From lips thine
Perchance ne’er meant for me

Spiral
Coiling, twisting
Up the wall
Down the willow
Serpentine
If I layeth still
Twould o’ertake me
Given years
O’ercome me
To be its host
Keep’r and home
Like a post
Neath the gloam
Clasping spiral
Growing lively
Spindled upward
Crawling ivy
Coiling, twisting
Up the wall
Down the willow
Serpentine

Twere ne’er within me
To look like this
Grow like this
Change like this
Not on mine own
I feel stars in mine skin
Pressed within
Pressed by another
Naturally unnatural
Left to root
Watered by blood
It fills me yet
Twere ne’er within me
To look like this
Grow like this
Change like this
Not on mine own
I feel stars in mine skin
Pressed within
Pressed by another
Naturally unnatural
Left to root
Watered by blood

Return to Dust
Body waning
To earth returning
Aching, paining
A final yearning
New life gaining
New growth churning
Feel it veining
Feel it burning
Body waning
To earth returning

The flower spoke to the gard’ner
Help me, please
Creatures dwell within
Devouring me
The gard’ner look’d to the flower
Thou’rt being eaten
By pests I do not want
I will rid of them
But I shannot save thee
Then why doth thou grow me
Why wert I water’d
Why doth sun shine
The gardener spoke somb’rly
It wert ne’er for thee
It wert for others to see
What I can grow with mine hand
And then he pluck’d the flower

Dealing with Demons
A promise made
Hand outstretch’d
Cat o’ nine
Lashing etch’d
The scar remains
A constant message
A final warning
Mine own cruel presage
From mine wrists
Sap o’erflows
Down mine fing’rs
Crying rose
Let it water
Blood son
Blood daughter
Begotten doom
Soon beget
Mine black bloom

Last Lullaby
The moth’r singeth to her childe
“O joy o’ my life, thou’rt so fleeting
Soon shall ye grow, no more my sweeting
When ye grant me, thy first greeting
I will weep tears, thou’rt so fleeting”
But the child would not greet her moth’r
For fear that she would cry
Stay’d silent all her long liv’d life
Until her moth’r died
Upon her deathbed the child spoke
“Spare me thy tears moth’r
I cannot bear the sorrow”
But the moth’r well’d with pride in stead
“I wish ye had spoke soon’r
Had thou fear’d to grow?”
The child nodd’d, smiling
“To be a sweeting fore’er”
But the moth’r replied
“Thou shalt be, always
Lo, fin’ly thou’rt not mine”

Mockingbird
Whistl’ng bird within the tree
Sing a song for me prithee
As thou seeketh thy belov’d
Left I to languish undiscov’d
Thy mocking tone sung at thine nest
Jilt and prod at mine unrest
And yet the diff’rence betwixt
Is thou’rt hopeful twill be fix’d
Thine tone will ne’er become mourning
Tho thine insist’nce is forlorning
While mockingbird awaits his mate
Her corpse bids he fore’er wait

Dragon
There art no true heroes
No dragons to slay
Glory merely for hours
Forgot in a day
And yet there art seekers
Of slain man and beast
Leave corpses to fam’lies
For murders to feast
There art no true evils
No perilous quest
No fables to tell them
No virtue to test
Braggarts art not heroes
Leave them to brag on
I shalt find their evils
Create their dragon

Beacon
Flick’ring
Burning bright
Warm
A light beheld
But ne’er held
Pure
Nurturing hearth
Left to smolder
Lone
Fear’d to spread
But fierce to reach

Candle held
