Article the First: Preamble
How foul is the wretched Spider, as it casts its webs across Altera, spinning vile schemes to promote the suffering of countless innocents. It’s venom poisons the good, twisting them into foul abominations, laughable misshapen hunks of twisted humanity. Its claws have sunk deep into this realm, and its evil has spread deep into the heart of this world. Where it lingers, corruption of flesh, mind, and soils do-follow. While normally this vile presence fades into obscurity, the Spider appears to have made a permanent home within the ruins of Nid Arach, forever twisting and turning the ignorant, the dull, or the willing into repulsive monstrous beings. And like a tumor, the Spider’s evil has stained the soul of the land after an age of senseless violence and chaos. Vile creatures and wretched souls spawn from the ruins worshipping the most wretched and unholy of demons- that of Jishrim, Skraag, and Visage. And with every day that passes, the scum of Altera are drawn to it in unholy pilgrimage.
More so, agents of this Noble Order have discovered that the tumor is spreading and growing like a festering wound, with the taint of those unholy ruins growing. Even the death of the Dark Lord, and the fall of the wretched Dark Order, nothing seems to halt the advance of the Spider’s taint.
It is clear that Light must answer. For only through the Light of Ignis Synnove can the darkness be driven from the earth, air, and water of Nid Arach. For only through the Truth of Ignis Synnove, can the wretched lies of the damned be cleansed. For only through the Order of Ignis Synnove, can the Spider’s taint be purified from this realm.
Article the Second: Organisation of the Order
The Order of the Templar Inquisitive shall number up to thirteen templars, and as many acolytes, postulants, and servants as is required to support the Order and further its aims. There shall be one Grand Inquisitor on him should rest all final decisions concerning the Order and its mission. There shall be up to three Magistrars on whom shall fall the burden of judging those accused of evil. There shall be up to nine Inquisitorial Brothers who shall act as arms of the Order, and teach the acolytes and others of the ways of Ignis Synnove.
The Order of Templar Inquisitive will formally be allied with the Heralds of Saint Mathieu and will where necessary, call or provide assistance within the bounds of their oaths and duties, be it men, resources, or another such backing.
Article the Third: Obligations and Duties of the Order and each member thereof
To this end, it shall be the sworn duty of the Order of the Templar Inquisitive, an Order dedicated to the tenets and Will of Ignis Synnove, to be the right arm of the Light. By Her grace, the Order shall erect a fortress within Nid Arach, and bring Order to this realm. The servants of evil and chaos shall be driven out, or be captured, branded for their crimes against Synnove, and then imprisoned indefinitely within cells controlled by the Order of the Templar Inquisitive. Servants of evil may only be slain if the lives of innocents are under threat. Relics with dark or obscene powers shall be collected and held within a Holy Reliquary until a method for their eventual destruction is determined. The Order shall submit to the authority of the Pontifex Dextrius Podric Flanders as Synnove’s highest-ranking blessed on the mortal plane.
The members of the Order of the Templar Inquisitive shall swear to protect the good, cleanse the evil within Nid Arach, take no wives, and father no children. They shall honor the holy tenets of Ignis Synnove. They shall not strike another unlawfully as dictated by the obligations and rules of the Order, and the rule of the Grand Inquisitor. They shall never leave the lands of Nid Arach or the bounds of their duty until death unless directed to by the Grand Inquisitor, or Nid Arach be wholly cleansed.
The members of the Order of the Templar Inquisitive shall obey the Grand Inquisitor in all things, save if his position becomes vacant. In the event the Grand Inquisitor’s position becomes vacant, the surviving Magistrars and Brothers shall immediately select amongst themselves his successor, under the guidance of Ignis Synnove.
The members of the Order of the Templar Inquisitive shall be loyal to one another and aim to lead any member who errs to correct behavior by good example. If any member is found to be contumacious or disobedient or proud or out of harmony with the Holy Rule and despising the precepts of his seniors, let him be admonished publicly before all once and again in accordance to the tenets of Ignis Synnove, and the precepts of the Holy Order. If he fails to amend, let him be stripped of all holy trappings and discharged of duty and subjected to excommunication if he understands the nature of that penalty; but if he be obdurate let him be cleansed over Holy Birch for his failures. Any member of the Order of the Templar Inquisitive who is excommunicated shall be cast from Nid Arach, and never be allowed to return on the threat of crucifixion upon Holy Birch. If any member of the Order of the Templar Inquisitive willfully consorts with an excommunicated member without the Grand Inquisitors orders, let him incur the like punishment of excommunication. Those who are to be cast from Synnove’s grace by the Grand Inquisitor shall gain the right to petition to Knight’s Haven for clemency in a trial in which a Magistrar appointed by the Grand Inquisitor shall stand as a prosecutor and the Pontifex of the Heralds of Saint Mathieu as Judge.
Let nothing interfere with the work of Ignis Synnove. Should a member of the Order of the Templar Inquisitive come late to the work of Ignis Synnove without due cause, let him be admonished by the Grand Inquisitor publicly before the Order. Should this occur again, the member shall receive suitable corporal punishment as dictated by the Grand Inquisitor.
The time each member within the Order of the Templar Inquisitive shall be divided into three, one part for rest, one part for prayer, and one part for the pursuance of their Holy Duty unless the needs of the Order require their presence. For times of rest, each member shall eat, and sleep and meet guests as they desire. Each member of the Order shall sleep singingly in separate beds with suitable bedding suitable to their manner of life at the discretion of the Grand Inquisitor. In times of engaging in Holy prayer, each member shall pray in accordance with the scricture set out within the Codex of the Sun. In times of their pursuance of their Holy Duty, members will be charged to act in pursuance of the aims and goals of this most Holy Order.
The Grand Inquisitor may add duties and obligations to members as he sees fit in times of need temporarily, however, all changes to the Charter must be ratified by the Pontifex of the Heralds of Saint Mathieu at the earliest possible time afterward. If the Pontifex of the Heralds of Saint Mathieu refuses to ratify the changes, they are repealed.
If the Grand Inquisitor wishes to add duties and obligations outside of a time of need as judged by the Magistrars of the Order of the Templar Inquisitive, these will need to be ratified by the Pontifex of the Heralds of Saint Mathieu before they are implemented.
