=-----------------------=

County Hartwood and its eponymous forest were originally settled by the knight and mage; Florian von Piers who sought to raise a keep upon its lands. Over time, it had fallen into disrepair and ruin until it's discovery by Uriel Valhart. This keep has since been restored to its humble state and adopted as the new family estate for the Valhart clan.

The borders of County Hartwood are naturally marked at the River Linmore to the west, the River Harthing to the South and the [-] mountains to the North. Their unique location on the continent offers them rich fertile soil, mineral rich mountain ranges and a vast woodland teeming with life. Whilst mostly isolated from the larger affairs of the realm, County Hartwood finds itself right in the middle of an active trade route between Astrakhan and Mockingbay carrying goods to and from each Capital and in a prime spot to request tolls be paid on river traffic. Other sources of income within County Hartwood are the many mines and logging camps of the clan Valhart; the resources from which are used for further expansion or maintenance of the various holdings and hearths about the County.

The people of County Hartwood are not ruled in the traditional feudal manner found in other settlements of the Continent and are instead largely free-men who reside and work the land in their own names. Matters of Law and Justice are settled at regularly held and exceedingly democratic 'Things' in which every household may cast a vote on their views for the County's future. The 'Thing' has primacy in all matters except for war and marriage, which are instead overseen directly by the 'Warlord' of Valiant and Exalt of Sallana respectively.

The Current WIP plans for the County and its various builds. The majority of which are intended to be roadside builds and the like.
Intended plans are for logging camps, mining sites, hunting lodges and perhaps minor homesteads upon the riverbanks.

Donations are welcome to help see our dream of a condensed rural medieval space on HW realised.
