Seigh Caelder Talon
Bastard son of Lord Axex Hawklight.

Summary and basic backstory:

Seigh is the bastard son of Lord Axex Hawklight. The identity of his mother is unknown, but is rumored to be of Norvägen blood. Some say it was a Norvägen “Lady”, but few actually believe that. Axex has wholeheartedly acknowledged him as his bastard son, giving him some -dubious- status. After a couple of years he was then sent of to be raised as a ward of a House distantly related to Axex with no real prospect of returning to court. There, he was raised like any other highborn child. Being the son of a true veteran, Axex had ordered that he received extensive training with sword, bow and on horseback, but due to his ever increasing interest for architecture and distinct non-interest for combat and conflict he never really put his heart into it and never became more than moderately proficient in these martial arts.
His talent for architecture was noted when no one less than Lord Neorey Aeyeras August, the Grand Architect of Heaven’s Reach and visited the university he attended for some guest lectures.
This rough but promising talent landed him an apprenticeship with the Grand Architect himself, which lead him to go live in Heaven’s Reach. Sadly, his mentor died only weeks later when he was visiting his foster parents...
Due to his highborn status -Unlike his teacher-, he never learned the crafts of carpentry, stone-masonry and smithing and relies more on theoretical knowledge and common sense.

In short; He’s a bulky, aspiring architect bastard who can use a sword, but is easily bested by dedicated fighters.

Name: *Seigh Caelder Talon* (Hawklight)

Pronunciation and meaning of the name:
~Shay Kailder~
These names roughly translate to “Like a hawk over harsh and cold waters” or more literally to a northern variety of sea hawks, a reference to the Hawklight legacy and the rough northern island life.
Talon is the surname for acknowledged, but not legitimized Bastards born from Hawklight’s nobles.
[OOC: These names are derived from the Gaelic names Séighín ~Shay-een~ (Hawk) and Calder (Harsh and cold waters)]

Full Titles:
Bastard/Talon.

Nickname/Alias:
When he was younger, people ’d yell “Bastard boy” at him and it stuck for a while, but only the older, true highborn boys were brave enough to do it in the open, being the acknowledged Bastard son of Lord Axex Hawklight. Most people he knows well usually call him by his first name “Seigh”. Others, even friends of his own age might refer to him as “Talon” or “The Talon”, politely referencing to his highborn (and firstborn) but bastard status. He used to hate that nickname, but has come to accept and even appreciate it.

KEY INFORMATION:
Age:
20-ish
Gender: Male
Race: Human
Social Status: “Talon” (Acknowledged Bastard son) of Axex Hawklight.
Sexuality: Heterosexual
Height: With 6'3” / 1.90m he’s surprisingly taller than his father
Weight: ~90 kg / ~ 198 lbs
Date of Birth: Unknown. His mother (who's identity nobody but Axex knows ) apparently brought him to Axex’s court somewhere in the Season of Harvest, probably late Sunbright, early Mistset. He was about one and a half years old by then.
Date of Death: He tries to avoid that date and being so young, he rarely ever thinks of his end at all.
Homeland: Altera, born and raised.
Current Home: He rents a room in an inn in Heaven’s Reach, Capital of The Kingdom of Hierax, Altera.

PHYSIOLOGY:
Build:
He has a fairly bulky build by nature. He’s slightly muscular, from his mandatory, but irregular training and exercising. Some would call it healthy, not even muscular.
Hair: Brown with a slight reddish hue. About one finger in length on his head. His hair is long and usually worn in a messy pony tail after his father. His beard is kept rather short, but apart from the regular baths, that’s about the only maintenance his hair ever sees.
Eyes: Brown. Two of them.
Skin: He has the pale base tone of most northerners, but with a healthy weathered hue and some sunburnt areas in the summer, since he spends most of his time outside.
Identifying Marks: Nothing out of the ordinary at the moment.
Appearance: Being Axex’s Bastard son, he obviously shares some of his facial features; The most striking example being his eyes, which are an exact carbon copy of his father's, the only difference being he still has both of them.
Some features however are clearly not from his father. His hair has a reddish hue which is uncommon but not completely unseen in the north. When he aged, his freckles and ever so slightly stronger, pronounced jaw and brows, together with his bulky build became more apparent and were reason for rumors about a Norvägen mother to run rampant by that time.
Clothing: Underneath the warm cloak he usually wears, he is usually seen in simple, anonymous garments, fit for daily use as a foreman. However, being an acknowledged highborn bastard son, they are obviously tailored by talented hands. He appreciates warm feet and therefor kicks some sturdy leather boots lined with rabbit fur.
Weaponry: When needed he can wield a sword with decent proficiency and probably stand his ground in self defence, but he is by no means a really proficient swordsman and has never seen battle outside of training.
Prized Possessions: Neorey August’s “Diamond” Axe which was surprisingly passed on to him after the king and Grand Architect died even though he knew him for such a short amount of time. The steel has a shimmer to it which lead people to call it a diamond axe. It originally came with a simple, but strong wooden handle, which has been replaced many times due to wear and tear. The axe head however hardly ever needs any sharpening and still looks as new. The king had the original simple ashen handle replaced by a meticulously detailed carved one laid in with various small gems and covered in leaf gold.
He never wears or uses it and had it safely stored in the royal vault.
Hygiene: He has always thoroughly enjoyed a proper warm bath and a good scrub. His hair and beard are clean and somewhat taken care of, but rather rough and messy. His hands often show marks of the light manual labor he does as a foreman, mainly some cuts and bruises. When not working, they are washed clean.
Voice: It’s as deep and strong as you’d expect from a man of his size, but by no means does it have the commanding, respect inducing sound of his father’s. Anyone can hear he’s from the north.

QUALITIES AND FLAWS:
Talents:
He somehow has a knack for building/designing. He’s a horseman, swordsman, is as literate as any noblemen etcetera, but he excels at neither of these fields.
Strengths: Stubbornness, willingness to learn, being acknowledged as a bastard and the blessings that come with it, like having the best teachers around.
Fears: Failing his father.
Weaknesses: Stubbornness, temperamental, not completely matured yet and therefore he has not yet found a balance within himself.
Intelligence: Rather intelligent, but it isn't his strongest trait. His persistence and willingness to learn is of an even higher magnitude.
Languages: He fluently speaks The Common tongue, with a northern accent.
Profession: Apprentice Architect

ETHICS AND MOTIVATIONS:
Personality:
He’s a young man who’s fiercely loyal to his family, in particular his father. He knows very well Axex was not obliged to acknowledge his very existence and is extremely grateful for it even though he shipped him off to a distant land to be raised. He’s also quite temperamental, so he sometimes forgets his gratitude towards him. He’s had all the proper schooling in etiquette, swordplay, history etcetera and he has learned to act and speak like a nobleman -in theory-. On the other side, he’s a true northerner and he can come across as harsh, or severe in manner, being unyielding and uncompromising.
He tries hard to please his father, thinking that being a bastard, he needs to work for his father’s approval more than he actually has to.
Alignment: He aims to be somewhere in the Lawful Good area, but in practice he ends up being between that and neutral.
Short Term Goals: Gain access to the materials within the late Lord Neorey’s personal library and read it all.
Long Term Goals: Become Grand Architect. Be named a proper, legitimate Hawklight instead of being burdened by his bastard surname. However, this would imply he would become heir to the Throne of Hierax, something he very much does not aspire.

TRIVIA:
Favourites:
Place:
A secluded spot on the cliffs of Heaven’s Reach with a view over the harbor, where he can read and sketch uninterrupted.
Pastime: Sketching new designs and building solutions.
Food: Seafood and rich, fat meat.
Drink: A wide variety of beers, ales and meads. He has not yet developed a taste for wine yet.
Colour: Undecided.
Animal: Undecided

Least Favourites:
Place:
Around nobles during official events. He always feels looked upon as a lesser person. Luckily , for the same reason, he’s rarely invited to these events.
Pastime: See above.
Food: Potatoes.
Drink: Goat’s milk. Like why? Who’d even... No. Just no.
Colour: Black.
Animal: Undecided

Backstory: Basically the summary at the top says it all for now. Meet him to learn more!

JOURNAL:

When he heard of the passing of his mentor, King Neorey Aeyeras August and the ascension to king of his father, he immediately set sail for Heaven's Reach again.
When their ship was nearing their destination, they noticed an unsettling amount rotting corpses in the water... It appeared as if they were moving, but the sailors thought it was because of the waves.
After arriving in Heaven's Reach, he learned the truth about these corpses. They were indeed moving...

After a quick chat with his cousin and a short visit to Lord Neorey's crypt, he was offered a bed in the Knights halls of The Order of the Dragons by Lord Bolvar Firestorm.
After a quick wash and a hasty meal, he took upon himself to inspect the city's defenses in his still unofficial role of architect.

During his round he met Abraham Horus, a refugee who happened to be a cartographer. After a short conversation Seigh offered to see if he could help Abraham get a commission for drawing a map of Heaven's Reach.

When he heard about the undead marching on Motte Adler, he made his way south as soon as he could to help in the defence. After a fierce battle it was clear the motte could not be held indefinately and the Hawklight party moved north to establish a second foothold.
