Hey there fellas,
We’re making some changes to the region and building process to try and make it less grindy and more approachable for the bulk of the server. After discussion we’ve decided that there are things that need a major rework, but it makes more sense/is easier to implement in a transition to a new map and with more time to develop ideas (and plugins). In the meantime we are making significant changes that work within our existing structures that should reduce the pain until a full rework hits.

Region Changes:
The main change here is to reduce all the costs involved. We’re also reducing the maximum number of regions to two per account to ease the eventual adjustment to the proposed points down below; this shouldn’t affect anyone with more than that right now, but no more than two regions per account can be created.

Costs:
New: 15k nobility + 15k region + 1.5k/plot

Owned Regions:
New: Max 2 at all ranks


Building Changes:
This one also follows the existing framework for moving creative builds into the main world. The change we’re making is that the vast majority of building blocks no longer need to be provided, with only some decorative/notably expensive ones showing up on the material lists. We're starting here instead of going all-in on creative so there's some time to see if/how the economy adjusts and we don't completely cut the use of the Sorrows.
The full list of excluded materials are in the section below. Anything with any of these in their name will be excluded, which I think covers the majority of the blocks in the game; IIRC a 3 million block sample of Storm's Landing yielded a 3 page list of materials.

Future Changes:
We’re planning on doing a general rework of the prestige plugin itself to simplify it when we move to a new map, which we’ll likely look towards when we do an update to 1.17. We’ll put out more details as we get closer to then and get them sorted, but the core principles for it will be:
  • Regions will be easier to mechanically claim, either with a single large radius plot or several smaller ones that are significantly larger than the current single chunk.
  • Regions will be cheap to free to create, and will likely involve an IC basis/proposal to assess initial size.
  • To counterbalance this, the maximum number of regions per person will be reduced.
  • Region deletion will be a more involved process, with a focus on returning it to an abandoned/ruined state before it’s unclaimed. This will likely involve a ticket with IGT, and you can weather your own region beforehand to make the process quicker.
  • Regions will not have a rent cost.
For building, we’ll play it by ear a bit with the significantly reduced material requirements before considering more extreme measures. I would like to eventually add utilities for people to move some of their own region into creative to work on, but that will likely come with the region rework as well.

What about those who already have 3 regions?

Those with more than that already wont suddenly lose regions. You simply cannot get additional regions.

Does this include additional accounts, or is it all an umbrella under one? Considering how cheap and easy creating regions now is, someone with three accounts could easily have six regions.

For now, it's 2 per account because that's what's mechanically allowed by the plugin. The next iteration will probably be per person, not per account.

New map confirmed, we'll start looking more at it closer to 1.17.

To be clear: is the Excluded List the list of materials that are WE-allowed?
The excluded list is of materials that you no longer need to provide to get something WEd out of creative- i.e if you made a build in creative entirely of logs and stone, you won't need to provide any materials for it.

not staff but my personal (and probably unpopular) opinion is to let the money burn. we're all fully aware that HW's economy is pretty messed up and this would get rid of a lot of excess money.
