- NEW RISEPORT -
" VEIL ISLE "
━━━━━━━━┓ ⇞ ┏━━━━━━━━

1616455711875.png

Located directly east of the Fuvurian capital of Sanardu, an Isle with jagged mountain peaks and vast broken shores stands strong against the eastern storms. A buffer that protects the city to the west, it is regularly hit by these strong storms and churning waves as hot and cold meet. In this environment the dense canopies of a jungle act as a protection for what wildlife lives beneath it, though it too has become a place of survival and unexplored wonders.

The heat can be stifling, after the storms settle and the sun sears down upon the canopies it results in hot air trapping in the dense foliage. Though this heat is often alleviated when a storm rolls in, instead battering the coastline and posing as an altogether new threat not advised to be exposed to. The environment is not quite the same as the original homeland of the Fuvurian people, but it is reminiscent enough that it has been widely regarded as ‘New Riseport’.

[ INFORMATION ]
----------
W
ith great stone ruins the first thing to sight upon drifting into the bay, scattered homes creep over the sides and onto the beaches. A tavern is constructed along a weaving pathway, but the buildings here remain dense and do not stray further into the Island itself. Various citizens of Sanardu now call this place home, with several finding it a familiar comfort from the old lands.

This island is under the rule and protection of House Fuvur, with a ship drifting from the Capital to the small docks of the Island each morning. It is ill advised to travel here without some experience in defence, or if you are in ill health, as there is currently no hospital upon it nor are there urgent plans for one. All individuals who travel to the Island are logged in the ship log for passage.

The waters that run through New Riseport, be it rivers, streams, waterfalls or even springs, glimmer with flecks of silver and hold a soft glow. Feeding into the land around it, the trees grow taller, foliage denser, and occasional creatures become stronger and more challenging. Consuming or bathing within this water will heal scratches and superficial wounds over the next hour, and ease aches and pains of the body. It will become as normal water if ever removed from the natural waterway. Clusters of vines, stray flowers, fungi and occasional insects can glow a soft aqua, green, or silver hue in places, illuminating the canopies of the jungle beautifully.
New Riseport is Theodran Divine Grounds.

[ There is a port from Sanardu on a smaller sized ship. ]

New Riseport is a VIOLENT region.

[ REGION RULES ]
----------

“Fuvur word is Law.”

IC Rules, or Guidelines:
- New Riseport is under the rule of House Fuvur, and as such, their word is Law here. Other than that, there are not many actual laws to the place. -
-
Destruction of the jungle, overhunting, purposefully being disrespectful to the wilderness here are all grounds for the Autarch to forbid you further entry. -
-
Those caught on the Island who don’t match the records from the sole ship that provides access from Sanardu may mark you as an Outsider, in which the consequences may be severe. -

OOC Rules:
- Don’t go wandering much into the ‘jungle’ without giving me a word about it - I am trying to create a certain atmosphere and additionally might not be able to DM. -
-
I am actively trying to claim the entire island as to allow people to interact with the environment how they like, but please don’t destroy or edit things unless we’ve spoken prior.-
-
I will DM or find a DM when the mood strikes me, but please refrain from asking me to DM something for you privately and do not organise your own DMing experience unless I can approve it. -

[ FLORA, FAUNA & GEOLOGY ]
----------
W
hilst there are yet many undocumented types of flora and fauna both, here is a selection of what can be found on the Isle. All things listed here have been approved for use by Lore. Whilst there are some simple ones, there are also a few blurbs of ‘new’ creatures or plants - they are mostly based on real life counterparts, like vampire bats and giant tarantulas, but have been edited to be easier to follow (instead of using the wikipedia pages) as well as in some cases made less lethal and easier to be worked with. None of the following should be used in the Crafting system, it is entirely for DMing and flavour.

Not in a list of their own are also the following:
Leeches, Crayfish, Prawn, Snails.

- F A U N A -
Reptiles;
Iguana
Red Footed Tortoise
Tree Gecko
House Gecko
Grove Snake
“Ash Viper”
Being a mottled grey or dark brown in colour with vibrant orange eyes and a vibrant orange mouth, this snake is named after ashes. Not only that, but it’s bite is said to feel like burning, as if fire courses through the veins. These snakes grow up to thirty five inches, and they lurk in the undergrowth more than the trees above, hunting a variety of small reptiles and mammals.
The bite of an Ash Viper is severe and very painful, but it is very rare for it to kill a fully grown adult. Children or the elderly may be more at risk.
The symptoms of a bite develop over a period of 24 hours, and can last for another 2-3 days;
- Rapidly spreading pain from the bite area, as if spreading through veins
- Swelling and blistering of the skin
- Impaired vision, bloodshot eyes
- Feverish symptoms
- High temperature
- Numbness in extremities
- Possible Necrosis
Mammals;
Fruit Bat
Agouti
Opossum
Ocelot
Wild Boar
“Hanging Bat”
One of the larger bat species of Altera, the hanging bat has a wingspan of almost six feet and yet weighs in at no more than four pounds. It feeds on mostly insects, fish, and smaller mammals, and as a result has developed sharp teeth specialised for cutting. Their teeth in fact have no enamel, and it results in razor sharp teeth all year long. Even handling their skulls can result in painful cuts. It is known to target sleeping animals, including humans, with an exceptional sense of hearing despite it’s terrible eyesight. They are primarily nocturnal hunters as a result.
Avian;
Hummingbird
Laughing Gull
Brown Pelican
Osprey
Imperial Parrot
Brown-Throated Parakeet
Tropical Mockingbird
Shiny Cowbird
Quetzal
Harpy Eagle
Fish;
Red-Bellied Piranha
Electric Eel
Arapaima
River Stingray
"Bloodsiren" Octopus [Discovered by Cymic]
“Viper Fish”
This fish is prone to burying itself in the sand and waiting for prey to pass by for an easy meal. As a defense, it has developed two vicious, barbed spines on it’s back not unlike ‘fangs’ that inject venom no more than an inch long. Once these ‘fangs’ are in the perhaps foot of an intruder, the fish breaks off leaving them within the potential predator, and will regrow them over the span of two weeks.
For the poor individual who has stood on them, the pain is searing, with cramping in the leg and foot at first. Within the hour, symptoms then begin, but symptoms also fade within a few hours (and aided if the foot is submerged in hot water, as hot as they can stand);
- Shortness of Breath
- Itching and Swelling
- Nausea
- Tremors
- Headaches
- Cramping
Amphibians;
Whistling Frog
Goliath Frog
“Gemstone Frog”
This small frog thrives in wet, humid conditions, and so is often found lurking on leaves or trees near a water source. They come in a variety of colours, of blue, purple, and green, and each one is speckled with dark black patches that contrast against an almost iridescent colour. They are very easy to see, which is their main defense against predators, as they actively look toxic.
These small but dangerous creatures excrete a toxin through their skin, which makes them toxic to touch. The poison can cause the following, and in rare cases, it can kill even a fully grown human by way of constricting airways or heart failure;
- Severe Swelling
- Nausea
- Muscle Paralysis
- Difficulty Breathing
- Fast Heartrate
- Nosebleeds
Insects;
Forest Spiders (From Bestiary)
Cave Spiders (From Bestiary)
Goliath Birdwing Butterfly
Morpho Butterfly
Giant Cockroach
“Onyx Hunter”
A particularly large tarantula that gets its namesake from the deep, black colour that helps it blend with the undergrowth and darker hiding places. With a leg span of eighteen inches and a body length of seven, it is a formidable foe for any wandering snakes, lizards, and small mammals. The fangs are large enough to break the skin of any human, reaching two inches long, and while the venom is deadly to it’s usual prey it is not the case for humans and is compared to the sting of a usual wasp and the broken skin wound is usually worse. It is also covered in hairs that it can rub off and shed when defending itself, which are greatly irritable to humans and the stinging, itching pain can last for several days despite washing.
“Hourglass Spider”
This small black spider has a noticeable red hourglass shape on the abdomen. Based on the Black Widow spider.
Being bitten by one of these results in one or more of the following symptoms that last 3-7 days;
- Abdominal Cramps
- Severe Muscle Pain
- Muscle Spasms
- Excessive Sweating
- Increased Heartrate
“Reaper Ant”
While this insect is not venomous, it’s sting is exceptionally painful and said to be significantly worse than an arrow or stab wound. The pain of the sting is searing, agonising ‘all consuming’ pain at the site of the sting and is said to last up to twelve hours and provide vivid hallucinations.
“Sunset Centipede”
Growing up to a length of 15 inches, this is the largest known centipede on Altera. It is coloured like a mixed hue of oranges and reds, with a purple tinted underside, and so is fits it’s namesake. It has large venom injecting pincers at the front of its mouth, the bite being intensely painful.
Being bitten by it causes some effects for up to three hours after the bite occurs;
- Swelling
- Nausea
- Feverish Symptoms
- Dizziness
“Sapphire Hunting Wasp”
This wasp is a deep sapphire blue in colour, with orange wings, and large enough that it’s primary food source is tarantulas. It has been known to eat small birds or lizards as well. It is extremely aggressive and territorial, and can sting over and over again, and being able to grow to five inches in length it packs a punch. Whilst it lasts no more than five minutes, the pain is excruciating and unrelenting, and instant. It is strong enough to knock down the strongest of men even temporarily.

Aloe Vera
Mango
Papaya
Passionfruit
Cacao Tree
Cashews
Varied Fruits
“Searing Hand”
This single stemmed plant bears large heart shaped leaves, a deep green in colour. Upon closer inspection, red flecks scatter the leaf tips. The leaves are covered in small hairs that, when brushed against, imbed in the skin and sting painfully on and off for the next 1-2 days. The site of the stinging flares up in such a way that blood vessels appear darker around the area for the duration, described as feeling like fire.
The plant also grows small, bright red flowers, which can be boiled to make a highly hallucinogenic substance. This can be a good or bad experience. Additionally, it dulls pain for a period of 1-2 hours whilst making the user feel thoroughly warmed.
“Tangling Vine”
A vine that almost strangles the trees it grows upon, covering it enough that leaves may struggle to grow. They drape from tall branches and are covered in needle-like barbs that embed in the skin of those unfortunate enough to grab it or wander into it unawares. The barbs are not toxic, but must be removed with care.
“Ramon Tree”
This tree stretches to heights of more than 120 feet and provides habitat and nutrition for an array of jungle residents. Its bark is thin, smooth and whitish-grey in color with a sticky, milky sap inside. You can eat the orange fruit it produces, as well as the small, bright green seed contained within it.
- No effects.
- Yields Ramon nuts and orange fruits.
"When dried, it can be stored for up to 5 years without spoiling, making it an important food source in regions with frequent periods of drought and food instability. It tastes similar to a potato and can be eaten raw, boiled or roasted."
“Sapodilla Tree”
The sapodilla tree is a slow growing evergreen that can reach heights of 100 feet. Strong and wind-resistant, it maintains an extensive root system. Sapodilla flowers are small, bell shaped and cream colored. The fruit is shaped like an egg with rough, brown skin when ripe, which protects the grainy yellow fruit inside. The ripe sapodilla fruit is soft, sweet and juicy with a similar taste to a pear.
- No effects.
- Yields sapodilla fruit, and it's wood.
"It can be eaten raw or made into jam. The fruit and leaves are used in traditional medicine to treat coughs and colds. The sapodilla wood is a deep red color, strong and durable."

Not planned to be a big region for housing and so on, but if you tend to RP there often enough I'm sure we can sort you a place to stay on it. Otherwise, there's a tavern on it now, and I'm cool with you RPing in the 'built' sections of the Island (ie, tavern, docks) - Just poke me and I can TP.

New Riseport is more open for visitors, with a new barkeep taking residence at the inn. There is a warp now from Sanardu and I'll see about making stalls or other builds if they're desired sometime. I still ask people stick to the main 'built' area and not to venture in the jungles though, since I'll be using those in events over time to uncover various ruins and builds I've put in there secretly.
