General Information
===+===+===+===

"I bid thee welcome... To the Island City of Astrum!"
===+===+===+===

Seated in the East of the Eastern Continent, the Island City of Astrum holds Capital over the Astrum Isle. Once an island shrouded in uncertainty and reduced to but a rumoured myth by drunken sailors, Astrum now holds its own torch to global influence, trade and politics. Ready in wait, to uphold a sense of peace and pacifism, though prepared to enforce such, should the need arise.

Originally formed of marooned refugees, from a land long-lost to the History of the Astremian people, Astrum has since grown into a thriving Island City - with the Naval Power of House Tek'ton upon it's ruling seat. The Islander Culture or 'Astremians' - though once segregated and distrustful of outsiders - now openly accepts those from outside it's territories, with a vast range of races and backgrounds forming its current populous.

Despite this newfound expansion of it's population, one thing is carved into the very fibre of the Islanders - their superstitious traditions are not to be disregarded, or disrespected at any cost...

+== TRAVEL ==+
"There she is! The 'Mother's Gaze', isn't she a beauty?" - Sir Ichien Tek'ton

▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬

One can travel to Astrum primarily through Storm's Landing - it's main trade partner. The frequenting Vessel into the harbour is the mighty 'Mother's Gaze' - Lord Lune Tek'ton's prized Frigate. Such a boat can usually be found in the right-most dock slip in Storms Landing. Taking its place at the edge of port. The ship is most easily identifiable from its numerous colours and banners showing the Astremian Colours of Green and Purple.

+== LAWS ==+
"Please realise, that such an action as deciding your punishment will bring me inordinate sorrow. Nevertheless it will be worth such for the greater good of humanity - for I know Sallana shall forgive me.” - Lord Lune Tek'ton
▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬

Such violations of Laws will be met with the following punishments, alongside fines, bandishment or repossestion of property depending on the act. These laws are sacred in the eyes of 'The Mother' and as such encompass her teachings and the Tenet's that she bestowed upon us - for we should truly follow such. Though these laws are firmly set in place - specific circumstances can entitle alterations to the punishment - though at the approval of the Lord of Astrum, or, should they be otherwise disposed of - a Jury of the offender's peers and the Nobles of Astrum.

Murder Exempt of Lawful Cause:
"Those who choose to end or attempt to end a life shall have the rest of their lives stripped away - may they pray to the Mother for forgiveness for the actions they have committed."

Kidnapping/Slavery/Intent to Possess Another:
"Those who would attempt to claim another living, breathing soul - shall face such life imprisonment themselves in indentured servitude to the state until they can atone for their actions."

Adultery:
"Those who would choose to disregard love, shall have such tools for love removed from them."

Worship of False Deities:
"Those who would enlist prayer to those who openly seek the destruction of Peace and Prosperity of the World shall be punished accordingly to the extent their actions held."

Petty Theft:
"Those who choose to steal from others shall have their own items tribute to the victim - failing that their services will be forefully employed to earn such tribute."

Major Theft:
"Those who misuse their limbs in order to violate the sanctity of another's possessions, will loose such limbs."

False Witness:
"Those who bare false witness, lie to the Vetrium Guard or spread untrue rumours shall face enfinement, imprisonment or such tool to bare any witness. Depending on the extend of such words spoken and of what nature"

Violence or Intent of Violence:
"Those who choose to commit or plan to commit violence that is not in self defence, shall have their weaponry and immediate possessions stripped from them, before being imprisoned and trialled for the decision of their punishment to be made in relation to the extend and intent of such an act."

Disregard of Punishment:
"Those who'd disregard the punishment awarded through Astremian law; be it defying banishment, refusing fines or attempting to repeat the offence - shall be punished accordingly to their original act, and face the highest punishment sanctioned by the law.

Disregard of Private Property:
"Those who'd enter un-invited into private property, or refuse to leave when prompted to eject from a property, shall face enfinement or imprisonment depending on the extent of such a crime."

+== RELIGION ==+
"Now gift ye roses, state your love. And let us sing till night has come! And now we pray, we pray above; The Mother’s name we bless as sung." - Excerpt from 'The Mother's Jig'
▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬

Astrum holds a great combination of different religions due to the current combinations of a variety of cultures and backgrounds. However whilest a variety of different gods are worshipped. It is without question that the Patron Diety is Sallana or "The Mother". Many Astremians - being a peace-loving people will regularly sing her praises at every opportunity, with many of their traditions and beliefs being a direct result of her Tenets and how they believe she'd want them to live out their lives.

On Astrum there are many different Locations dedicated to Sallana. These include:

'The Rose Heart':
A temple in the centre of Astrum, dedicated solely to Sallana.

'The Mother's Shrine':
A large shrine surrounded by a Rose garden, the original place of worship for the Astremian people.

'The Mother's Garden':
A rose garden surrounding a shrine dedicated to Sallana, the garden includes a multitude of places to sit and sing - with it being a hotspot for aspiring musicians to frequent.

'The Rose Apothecary':
An Apothecary dedicated to Sallana - growing Roses in her name under the Islander tradition that a courtship should begin with the gifting of a blessed rose from this garden.

Any professions are welcomed, each worker shall recive a fair wage and every potential islander offered one of our large homes - free of deposit or up-front charge. We will not provide you a guarentee that upon visiting you shall earn vast wealth and success (for few can indeed promise such). However what we can offer is an escape from the bustle and noise from large industry cities: live with the nature that provided for you, dance with the friends you will indeed make, drink to your successes, and grow upon your failures. Chart your own course, let no man bear your stern - may the tide guide you home.

+== WHAT WE OFFER ==+
"I know not why, but I have a feeling I'm going to like it here..." - Samm Libella
▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬

Astrum has many houses suited to a wide variety of both classes, races and the style of RP you desire! We try to cater for each tastes and make sure our houses aren't simply cookie-cutter copies of the same build over and over. Whilst remaining in the same style, each house on Astrum has something different to offer. Maybe you'll have a secret hatch leading to a hidden basement? Perhaps an extra floor towering over your roof? Or you might even have a balcony overlooking Astrum's gentle waves - perfect for hosting your own events! The possibilities are quite literally endless, and if you have something specific in mind (or simply want a tour before 'taking the plunge', simply message Icanra , Moo_bot , Galaxy or any other town official and we can customise an existing house (free of charge) to encapsulate exactly what your vision holds.

However we do not simply have simply one type of house that we'll customise for you. In fact, Astrum has a grand total of Five Districts to choose from - each with their own style of Houses and RP to offer. To find out more about the ranges of Houses we offer, see below.

=+= The Slums =+=
Situated on the lower end of the Docks, our slums are the smallest house we offer. The Houses are cramped together, only connected by cramped streets and dark alleyways, perfect for a player looking for a less well-off character setting, surrounded by more questionable dealings. The Houses consist of two floors and an attic space, with no basement.

=+=
The Pier District =+=
Situated on the outskirts of Astrum's main body of housing, these Houses are perfect for Peasant characters, perfect for a more working class character setting. The Houses consist of two floors and an attic space, with a basement.

=+=
The Centre District =+=
Situated in the heart of Astrum's residential area, these Houses are perfect for Middle-Class characters, those who (whilst are not insanely wealthy) never go to bed hungry. These houses are suitable for almost anything you can think of, featuring three floors, an attic space and a basement - the possibilities are numerous.

=+=
The Garden District =+=
Situated on the outskirts of Astrum's main body of housing, these Houses differ from the Pier District, with them separated and spread out around the gardens. Usually for characters in the upper middle class - but not yet noble. The Houses consist of two floors and an attic space, small garden, and with a basement.

=+=
The Noble District =+=
Situated high above Astrum's main residential area, the Noble district consists of several large, grand houses that represent the epitome of wealth and class. Perfect and Reserved exclusively to Established Noble Families and their Staff. To inquire about these Houses please message one of our Officials (as mentioned in the section above).

=+=
The Astrum Bastion =+=
For those interested in more militaristic style RP, Astrum's Bastion offers comfortable and spacious barracks for those who'd want to focus solely on defending Astrum's Lands and it's People. These are Reserved for those within The Astrum Vetrium, please contact Moo_bot for more information regarding joining the guard.

+== PRICING ==+
"The Homes are Free, aye. But nothing is truly without Cost."
▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬

For those joining Astrum as a permanent resident; Houses can be yours for Free, with an additional interior decorating service available at an additional charge. Those wanting to have a house as a Holiday House or a Home away from Home, will have to pay a fee depending on the House. This is so as we do not have lots of people taking up properties on Astrum and only using them every other month. We do however, have a variety of 'Safehouse' Locations for those looking for a place to lay low or just have as a spare property for some RP reason. These consist of: Warehouses, Sewer Rooms, Storage Houses and Rentable Rooms. These are smaller and found scattered across Astrum, some hidden and some in plain view. PM for more details regarding 'Safehouses'.

The Astrum Isles
===+===+===+===
"My child, from that peak there, to the borders of Linlea. That is the sea that we own. You should be proud to be a Tek'ton."
===+===+===+===

The Astremian people - once dwindling and rare, have steadily increased their claim as their populous grew. Whilst originally confined to solely Astrum Island, as their manpower increased they were forced to first lay claim to the neighbouring island to the South of them titling it; 'Ostium Island', which became a secondary settlement for the original ruler of Astrum - Delius Tek'ton. After this claim (when the population grew again) the Astremian people realised they could no longer extract stone and other materials from their own island, for fear of using too much. This caused the Islands to lay claim to a section of the Lavalands. a claim which ran from the coast to the first pools of Lava. In the present day, the islanders have now claimed the large island to the north which they named; 'Ferrum Island', along with laying claim to the immediate sea around them.

+== GEOGRAPHY ==+
"The volcanic soil of Astrum territory is rich. I'd be lying if I said I've never had some soft it's fertile soil carried up north."
- King Cymic Seymour

▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬

Composed of volcanic rocks covered by a thin layer of moraine or peat soil, the islands are high and rugged with flat summits separated by narrow ravines and perpendicular cliffs - the highest at Mount Libella, with a peak of 730 meters. The coasts are deeply indented with fjords, and the narrow passages between islands are agitated by strong tidal currents.

The climate is oceanic and mild, with little variation in temperature, frequent fog and rain. The warm south eastern currents keep the harbours free of ice. Natural vegetation is moss, grass, and mountain bog however many crops can be grown there due to the nutrient rich volcanic soil. The island is naturally treeless because of the cool summers, strong westerly winds, and frequent gales, but some hardy trees have been planted in sheltered areas. Tough black rock covers the mountainous peaks of the Islands. Once origionally thought to be Obsidian, on closer examination in turned out to in face be Hematite, a tough rock with a high content of Iron Oxide.

+== CLIMATE ==+
"Tis Cold aye, But not enough 'ere for my liking, I perfer colder stuff. Still, I've 'ad much worse" - Ronak Rothguard.
▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬

The climate of the Astrum is classed as sub-polar oceanic climate with areas having a tundra climate, especially in the mountains, although some coastal or low-lying areas may have very mild-winter versions of a tundra climate. Though due to it’s proximity to the Lava-lands, western winds ensures that winters are relatively mild, while summers are cool. However on raised areas such as the Astrum Bastion and the peaks of the mountains – this temperature can wildly fluctuate.

The islands are windy, cloudy, and cool, sunny days are less common than overcast days – though not quite considered entirely rare. The strong gale winds also make it quite difficult to make fires outside without using shelter to do so, and can prevent certain other tasks from being completed in the colder months of the year.

+== FLORA & FAUNA ==+
“Astrum? Astrum is Craggy, but it's people are well rounded. More often than not, are they called upon to defend their home: as nature will occasionally try and reclaim it.” - Fronslin Meguar
▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬

The fauna of the Astrum Islands are mostly dominated by seabirds and birds attracted to open land, due to the lack of woodland and other suitable habitats in the surrounding areas, the Western lava lands preventing an obstruction when migrating occurs – causing certain species to attempt to acclimatise to Astrum’s environment (often becoming domesticated in the process).

Only a few species of wild land mammals are found on the Astrum Islands today, all introduced by vessel or selectively bred from the animals that found their habitat upon Astrum’s shores.

Five mammal species are thriving on the islands today. The more typical species consist of; mountain hare, rabbits, llamas and the house mouse. However, Astrum is unusually populated by an ever-growing herd of goats. With no strict laws in place regarding their breeding, Islanders often breed several for their vast array of products such as meat, milk, cheese and (most curiously) co-dependant companionship. Apart from these creatures, there are local domesticated farm animals in order to provide the island with a more diverse diet.

Grey seals are common around the shorelines. With a variety of aquatic mammal species populating the waters around the Astrum Islands. Best known are the long-finned pilot whales, which still are hunted by the islanders in accordance with long-standing local tradition. Orcas are also regular visitors around the islands – with several instances of them washing up to shore and having to be dug out by the islanders.

The islands isn’t merely populated by domesticated mammals however. The rock pools around the western unpopulated side of Astrum are home to many a creature. The mentioned rockpools in this area is mostly submerged and are exposed only during unusually low tide. They often teem with life and has far more marine vegetation than found on the other areas of the Island - especially seaweeds. Those found there include abalone, anemones, brown seaweed, chitons, crabs, green algae, hydroids, isopods, limpets, mussels, and sometimes even small fish. These creatures can grow to larger sizes due to the lack of large predators – due to the wave action and shallow water.

Whilst providing a much more diverse array of creatures, these rockpools are not always considered safe to venture to however, as crab-caves housing giant crabs line the underside of the Western Shoreline. Fast, fierce and armoured with a thick shell, these monstrous beasts can grow up to almost five foot wide and act as the primary predator to both Astrum’s fauna, and in many cases – the islanders themselves.

The natural vegetation of the Astrum Islands are dominated by arctic-alpine plants, wildflowers, grasses, moss, and lichen. Most of the lower areas consist of grassland and or by shrubby heaths lining the mountainous crags: though in the present day most of these areas have been repurposed into farmlands, that make good use of the incredibly fertile volcanic soil its proximity to the lava-lands provides.

Although there are no trees native to the Astrum Islands, limited species were able to be successfully introduced to the region, most notably planted in more important areas as tradition - to commemorate an Islander passing away.
