Hello everyone,

With the introduction of HollowCrafting, along came a variety of new materials, and thus has raised many questions about what is considered common knowledge for characters to know. As a result, we have composed a basic list of materials that may be consulted whether a material’s properties and uses are considered common knowledge. If they are not considered common knowledge, then they must be learned through roleplay or through a research ticket.

A lot of plants in this list arent inthe resource list, like abmerleif, gazerberries, honeybees leaves, dreamvinethornpest and valerian to name a few. Where would we learn the common uses of these if they arent mentioned I. The other thread

You can learn their purposes through roleplay. It can be assumed that when using the crafting plugin, your character may discover certain uses. Others might be from your character ingesting a substance, or something similar. Consider when you are using the crafting plugin, it is sort of a “trial and error” learning experience for the material properties, and what you do with the item is usually how your character will learn its uses, unless told by another character.

My favorite example for this so far is Starblood. A smith would discover this metal can be used for smithing, but doesn’t know what it’ll do to a blessed. Then they carry a Starblood poleaxe near a blessed and witness the effects. They might determine it is their new metal that is causing this to happen, thus they have discovered the effects of Starblood.
