[ H I S T O R Y ]
Old-Ralidor. They say they planned to build a city there once. A great city, they said it’d be. To stand upon the hill, watching over the plains proudly. Stone by stone, brick by brick it began to rise, an engineering marvel headed by the great architect Ulric Quinn. But alas- it was not meant to be. In what some believed was an act of divine judgement … the sky fell upon Ralidor. A great meteor, a stone that burned with heavens fire crashed nearby, cursing the lands and plants around it. Animals grew exceptionally large and far more aggressive, and plants began to act as if they had a mind of their own. The city was abandoned, left to crumble, forgotten.

Time passed. Stone’s cracked and marble shifted as nature took hold deep within the city. Large trees grew, and streams bubbled gently as they made their way down the plateau.

But soon- the stirring of life reached the estate. Michael Ashbury, a man barely older than 30 summers came to rescue the estate from collapse. Bringing workers and colleagues, he built a mansion within the garden, praying that his mansion’s proximity to nature would bring him luck, peace and prosperity. After reaching an agreement with Cymic Seymour, King of Sangria, he was made its Count, on the condition that if ever those of Sangria needed a place of rest or refuge it would be granted to them.

As of now, the city stands as a refuge from the outside world. A realm of peace and clarity beholden to Sangria law, judged by the most noble count the world has ever seen.

[ IN CHARACTER LAWS ]
As Old-Ralidor is part of Sangria, it holds itself to the Leviathan's Jaw. However- due to its distance from Halbed, there are some slight regional variations. The system will be harsher upon non-citizens than citizens- however to what extent will be up to the noble Count Ashbury and to his council. The law applies to all who live, work or travel within the bounds of Old-Ralidor. The full set of laws including the regional variations are found below.

C R I M E S:
Murder - Killing someone out of cold blood without the declaration of a duel.
Tattoo: A dead fish. To remind them of the stench their baggage will bring. A symbol of weakness. Cowardice.

+Murder will be served with a public execution. Unjustified killing will be justified.
+Murder without witnesses will lead to a private hearing from the Count Ashbury and his council. If the murder is designated as “accidental”, you will pay the afflicted party's living relative a sum of five thousand radiants. Else- public execution.

Infidelity - Matters involving marriage, relationships and fidelity.
Tattoo: A broken heart. To signify their disrespect of their partner and God alike.

+An individual caught being intimate whilst bound under marriage is disrespectful straight to the God's representative who wed them. They are sentenced to wrestle a bear. If they survive the encounter, they may return to the city.
+An individual caught being intimate whilst bound in a relationship not under marriage will not be charged.

Slavery/Abduction - Binding a citizen against their will and forcing them into labor, or removing them from the city.
Tattoo: Shackles around their wrists. Self explanatory.

+An individual found guilty of slavery will lose their hand and will be sentenced to prison time.
+An individual attempting to retrieve a “criminal” within the walls of Old-Ralidor is considered abduction of a citizen. If you are caught attempting this without the proper approval of the council's permission, you will be charged with kidnapping, and sentenced to public execution.

P E T T Y C R I M E S:
Assault - Attacking someone without provocation.
Tattoo: "Yellow Belly" or a white feather. Both symbols of cowardice.

+An individual who attacks another without being provoked can be pressed for charges of assault. Any wounds will be mirrored onto the attack, and salt will be spilled into the fresh wounds. Jail time may also be issued, but can be avoided on a coin flip.

--

Vandalism and Theft - Breaking or stealing another's property.
Tattoo: Three eyes. Two of them cross-eyed, the third shut. Representative of Visage.

+An individual guilty of damaging the property of another must pay the afflicted back. Prison time will be served. The length of the term will be decided by the noble Count Ashbury and his council.
+An individual guilty of theft must return the item. Prison time will be served. The length of the term will be decided by the noble Count Ashbury and his council.

--

Slander - Insult a man all you like. When you reach the point of false claims, you will be tried for Slander.
Tattoo: A mouth agape, missing it's tongue.

+An individual slandering another will be met with a beating. By the victim, or if requested, by the guards of Old-Ralidor. Failure to comply with the beating will earn permanent expulsion from Old-Ralidor. The afflicted may also request a duel to any degree, which the offender must participate in.

--

Heresy and Otherly Worship - The lack of faith, faith in those not within the Pantheon, and the denouncing of Jax within His lands.
Tattoo: A holy symbol of the god they have chosen to worship.

+An individual who lack faith of the Pantheon or the worship of any entity outside the Pantheon will be handled with gentle rehabilitation. It is not a large ordeal. Just pick one and say you worship them.
+An individual heard denouncing Jax within the lands of Sangria forfeits their life . You may curse at Jax in jest for your bad luck as only serious intent warrants a serious punishment.

[P R I V I L E G E S]
Invoking - Calling upon the judgement of Jax in place of the judgement of men.

+Any proven worshiper, follower, or priest of Jax may invoke His decision in place of the judgement set by the council for any and all crimes. A coin flip will determine their innocence regardless of what the council had decided on. Petty crimes only, excluding theft.

--

Revenge - Acting upon someone with equal intent of which they have suffered.

+An individual may kill someone in cold blood if they have been killed within the lands of Sangria. They may also strike, slap, spit, or stab someone who has done so to them- As long as the first afflicted did not warrant such actions. Proof must be provided in the form of physical evidence or at least three witnesses. The lack of which will result in a private hearing from the Count Ashbury and his council.

--

Dueling/Brawling - Fighting for reasons of honor, respect, and disrespect, as well as other small or large matters. Any matters, really.

+A brawl is a fight in which it is not declared. You are gifted the chance to stand up for yourself and fight a man or woman who disrespects you through witty or unwitty remarks, or physical contact. The pretenses of a brawl are only upheld if there is no use of weapons. The use of chairs, tankards, etc. is fair game. A brawl is won when the other backs off or is left unconscious. Pulling lethal weapons forfeits your life.
+A duel is differentiated by the establishment of rules before a fight begins. The use of armor, weapons, and magic must be set beforehand. A cheater will lose their artifact or spellcasting vessel, their weaponry, and their life if they succeed in killing their opponent while simultaneously breaking the preset rules. The outcome of the duel such as, to first blood, or to death, must be set beforehand.

--

Prostitution - To indulge in or provide services with a whore, or as a whore.

+An individual who wishes to pursue the lifestyle of a whore or pursue the services of one will need to acquire the correct licenses. Prostitution and brothel services are entirely legal within the lands of Sangria.
[Note: Any players found roleplaying the services of a prostitute without the use of FTB will be reported and banned for ERP. Keep that shit to discord and keep it mature. The laws inclusion is for City background RP, Player backstories of new characters from Ralidor, and it contributes to the air of Ralidor being a place of legal scum. Know the server rules and do not ruin something meant to be flavor lore.]
