Recently some debate has come up in regards to child characters and what traits they can inherit from their parents. Staff have discussed the issue and come to the following conclusion and set up the following guidelines. The only races that can interbreed and have fertile offspring are humans and the subspecies of elves. While having bipedal roughly humanoid shapes the other races are genetically distinct enough that children are not possible. The reason for allowing a little leeway in traits is so that an Elf and a Human can have a child that may at least look like both of them in appearance. A simple way to process shared traits:

Is the trait you are trying to inherit from Parent A, who is a different species from Parent B and the Child, within the norms of the race whom Parent B and Child belong to? If it is within the norms you may inherit that trait from the Parent whose species is different. If the answer is no, then no you may not.
Example
Parent A
Moor Elf
-
Parent B
Human
-
Child
Human
In the above scenario the Child may not inherit Parent A’s Gray Skin Color, Purple Eye Color, or White hair. Yet he may inherit some facial structure from that Parent (not all). Whereas any trait you wish from Parent B can be inherited, as they share the same species.*
*This may not be true with Legacy Characters, please check with a staff member if this is the case before giving a child a possible lore breaking trait.
These rules do not just pertain to the obvious physical features that can’t be inherited such as pointed Elven ears or Elven height in humans but also the more subtle extra abilities that Elves have over humans. The acute hearing of Elves is tied to their ear structure which would not transfer to a human child, nor do human children with a single Elven parent live any longer than any standard human. If we see any one mixing around genetic traits, we will start moderating more thoroughly and take extra measures to make sure no child character goes over bounds of what is allowed.
