Started watching through a couple of the old Gundams that were in the backlog. Most of them haven't aged well and I forgot how cheesy the dialogue was. At least the animation is still good.

Much to my... misfortune, G-Gundam was not one of those I recently watched. Granted, while it's the black sheep of the Gundam lineup, it does shine... with an awesome power.

1. I'll be honest didn't grab me and I thought was kind of a boring take on an already explored to death genre.

2. Is a slow burn of utter magnificence. I really can't recommend it enough and its a crime it doesn't have more episodes.

You will always need a certain level of tolerance, I guess - but going by the reviews I read this really isn't a show I'd suggest to someone watching anime for the first time ever.

Are you sure they didn't want to troll you?

The thing people need to learn when suggesting shows is considering the show they actually recommend. - In that dragon thing's case the art style along dejected me from ever watching it.

Not only do the tags tell you what genre the story is set in, but it also has a synopsis that can help decide whether a particular show is interesting. (And even then, there is still the 3 Episode rule)

You guys should ask him what kind of Series he likes first.
Grimgar, as awesome as the story might be, has a horrible pacing and is more of a prologue than anything else.

if you want to suggest someone a fantasy story I'd also rather start with the fate series if I were you. - There is a reason it has so many seasons you know :/

I was just giving my thoughts on the two shows Spirit listed. One which was really eh, and another I really enjoyed. I honestly took swiftspears comment to be more dismissive of the genre as a whole due to a bad experience or even a joke. Could be wrong just my take.

Fates has so many seasons because a combination of stellar anime (at least recent ones), stellar stories, VN sales and now even a mobile gacha game fueling the entire series to the point ufotable could basically dedicated all their anime to just various Fates adaptations for another decade and still make money. Gacha games are an incredibly profitable model and I believe someone said there were as many anime based on gacha games as the VN adaptations this season.

Note the above is not to diss the type/Moon series as its great. Just saying there is more fueling it then general appeal, we can all probably find a few animes with large appeal that didn't get as many seasons as it should.
